Project Overview

KTCS Construction completed a large-scale painting and decorating project at Bedford House in Pinner, HA5, refreshing the property’s interior from residents’ rooms and offices to corridors, ceilings and detailed woodwork.

Bedford House is operated by Harrow Council and provides accommodation and care for people with learning disabilities.

The council-funded decorating programme covered 40 rooms and associated areas, including residents’ rooms, offices and corridors. Our work included surface repairs, sanding, filling and painting, together with the redecoration of doors, windows, shutters, skirting boards, other woodwork and metalwork.

This was more than a commercial decorating job—it was work inside people’s home. Alongside achieving a high-quality finish, we placed particular importance on protecting the surroundings and working considerately around the residents and care staff.

Scope of Work

Protection and Considerate Working in an Occupied Care Home

Before preparation and painting began, we protected the surrounding surfaces and areas not being decorated. Throughout the project, our team took particular care around residents and staff, with safety, comfort and respect for the care environment central to our approach.

Surface Preparation, Repairs, Sanding and Filling

We prepared the existing surfaces by repairing damaged areas, filling imperfections and sanding before decoration. This preparation helped create an even base for the new finishes, rather than simply painting over worn or uneven surfaces.

Painting Residents’ Rooms, Offices and Corridors

Our team redecorated the rooms, offices and circulation areas included in the project. We applied multiple colours across the property, giving the different spaces a refreshed appearance while maintaining consistent workmanship throughout.

Wall and Ceiling Decoration

Walls and ceilings were prepared and painted, with attention to even coverage, clean edges and the junctions between surfaces. The work refreshed both the larger rooms and the connecting spaces that residents and staff use every day.

Doors, Windows, Shutters and Woodwork

We prepared and painted the existing doors, window frames, shutters, skirting boards and other woodwork within the decorating scope. Careful sanding, filling and finishing helped bring these details together with the freshly decorated walls and ceilings.

Metalwork Preparation and Painting

Existing metalwork included in the project was prepared and repainted, completing the decorative improvements across the different surfaces within the building.

Final Detailing and Finishes

Attention to corners, edges, frames and adjoining surfaces was an important part of the final finish. These details helped give the completed redecoration a clean, consistent and professionally presented appearance.

The completed work brought a fresh appearance to the property, with renewed walls and ceilings, carefully finished woodwork and coordinated colours across the decorated areas.
